I had hoped to write about playing golf in 2014, but I've only seen grass for about 12 hours in what seems like forever. The Northeast got bombed with snow again this week and my area of North Jersey had about 10 inches yesterday and another 3 inches overnight. We were all shocked when work closed yesterday and we had a 9am delayed opening this morning. I shoveled last night and again this morning, but the area between the main road and the first intersection haven't been plowed sufficiently so I'm still at home today. The rest of the complex has been plowed pretty well and is just wet slush on blacktop, but those 500 feet or so will derail any hopes of my car getting out to civilization. I'm certainly giving serious consideration to getting rid of my RWD Infiniti before next winter. I wouldn't mind having more trunk space (there's an image in my trunk that depicts how to store two golf bags, but that's complete nonsense) and a bigger back seat/four doors so that I can drive when more than two of us want to go somewhere.
I got some Winn DriTac midsize (+1/16") grips and need to get them installed. I'm interested to see what kind of difference they'll make over stock grips for me since I'm 6'3" and have reasonably large hands (I can palm a basketball).

Upcoming plans:
My cousin Greg and I are supposed to visit our uncle in VA in two weeks. I hope the snow down there will be gone by then. I'm afraid that those rounds are going to be the first full swings of the year. I can hit half shots (sort of) with wiffle balls up to 6iron in my apartment so maybe my short game will still be decent? I can spend this snowy weekend scouting out London Downs and planning out a good way around the course.
Greg and I are also supposed to play some open gym volleyball tomorrow night. Theoretically, it's supposed to snow some more tomorrow so he may have to pick me up on the way. I still haven't been to the doctor to have my left wrist and right elbow checked out. I think it's tendonitis in my elbow from playing more golf than ever last year so I've been trying to rest it as much as possible. I may load up on ibuprofen before we play, although if I can set the whole time, I'll be fine. It may get sore if I have to hit a lot.
April 28: CT SCC golf outing at Great River - Hopefully the snow will be gone by then and it'll be somewhat warm. This is another great industry outing that I'm fortunate enough to play in. We play a scramble format from the white tees which are only 6148 yeards, but rates at 71.6/137. There are two groups of very good golfers that always play so our team doesn't have a chance at winning, but we always have a great time anyway.
May 19-22: Myrtle Beach - We haven't finalized courses yet, but this will be my third year on the trip. Our group has been going down for longer that that (5 or 6 years), but I wasn't going along until I got better. I did not want to spend four straight days being frustrated. It'll be dedicated to Uncle Jon and his favorite charity, Wounded Warrior Project. We're trying to grow the trip into a bigger event in future years so that we can donate even more and have an even better time while doing it.
That's it? You set a goal and then quit your blog in February? Booooo!
